AVAILABLE WORKS
Lucas Price, formerly known as Cyclops, creates photorealistic paintings that examine the connections between objects and language. His work combines images and typography to investigate how language and visuals act as an essential means of conversation. Drawing on still life traditions, Price highlights mundane objects such as buttons and fire extinguishers, revitalizing these static objects with stimulating text to jolt viewers into actively engaging with them. Multilayered works such as For Ferguson, With Love (2015) challenge our understanding of common objects and how words affect their meaning. Originally a self-taught artist who participated in the street art scene as part of the Burning Candy graffiti crew, Price later earned a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art.
